A milestone worth celebrating

Honouring a journey of growth, service and faithful leadership

The graduation ceremony brought the CBC family together to recognise not only the completion of a programme, but also the spiritual and personal formation that has taken place throughout the learning journey.

On 26 July 2026, CBC celebrated the graduation of 50 participants from the Destiny Leadership Program. The evening marked the completion of a significant period of learning in which participants explored their leadership stories, reflected on God’s work in their lives and developed a deeper understanding of Christian leadership.

Throughout the programme, the graduands were encouraged to see leadership not simply as a title or position, but as a God-given responsibility to influence His people toward His purposes. Their journey involved lessons, group discussions, assignments, mentoring conversations and practical application within their ministry contexts.

Graduation therefore represents both an achievement and a commissioning. It celebrates what has been learned, while calling every graduand to continue growing in character, serving with humility, developing others and remaining faithful throughout a lifetime of leadership.

“Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.”
Hebrews 13:7

What is DLP?

Preparing a new generation of leaders for God’s purposes

DLP stands for Destiny Leadership Program. It is CBC’s leadership development journey for preparing leaders who can serve faithfully and continue well across CBC churches.

The programme is rooted in the biblical leadership mandate of Hebrews 13:7. Participants learn from faithful leaders, examine how God shapes a leader over a lifetime and apply those lessons to their own leadership journeys. The goal is not merely to produce capable organisers, but to form spiritually mature leaders whose character, competence and ministry direction reflect Christ.

Foundation

Spiritual Formation

Developing Christlike character, spiritual depth and a life that gives credibility to Christian leadership. DLP emphasises that leadership flows first from who a person is before God.

Competence

Skill Formation

Strengthening the practical abilities, behaviours and relational skills required to guide people, communicate clearly, solve problems and serve effectively.

Direction

Strategic Formation

Learning to develop wise ministry strategies and a sound leadership philosophy that honour Scripture, respond to present needs and support the church’s mission.

The DLP leadership philosophy

Learn, model and multiply

Healthy leadership development moves from receiving wisdom, to embodying that wisdom, and finally to investing it in others.

01

Learn from faithful leaders

Participants study biblical leaders and respected Christian examples, considering how they lived, responded to God and remained faithful through different seasons. Their stories provide wisdom for today’s leaders.

02

Model good leadership

DLP challenges participants to become leaders whose lives can be imitated. Spiritual character, practical competence and wise ministry strategy must come together to form credible leadership.

03

Mentor emerging leaders

Leadership is multiplied through intentional relationships. Graduands are encouraged to recognise emerging leaders, walk with them and help them develop their gifts, character and calling.

The learning journey

From understanding destiny to fulfilling it faithfully

Each learning theme helps participants recognise God’s formation in their past, respond faithfully in the present and prepare to lead others into the future.

01

Sense of Destiny

Recognising God’s hand, purposes and direction within one’s leadership journey.

02

Writing Your Leadership Story

Reflecting on the people, events and experiences God has used to shape the leader.

03

Modeling Good Leadership

Understanding levels and models of leadership while developing a life worthy of imitation.

04

Mentoring and Growing Leaders

Learning how to identify, encourage and intentionally develop emerging leaders.

05

Strategic Leadership

Building a biblical ministry philosophy and using wise strategies to fulfil the church’s mission.

06

Fulfilling Your Destiny

Choosing faithful responses that help a leader continue well and finish well.

Beyond graduation

The end of a programme, the beginning of deeper service

The certificate marks the completion of the formal learning journey, but Christian leadership formation continues throughout life. Every new responsibility, challenge, relationship and ministry season can become part of God’s ongoing work in shaping a leader.

As these graduands return to their congregations, ministries, workplaces and families, they carry both knowledge and responsibility. They are called to practise what they have learned, remain teachable, build healthy teams and help others discover their place in God’s purposes.
