Faith Beyond Sunday
How can Christians live out their faith beyond Sunday and make a meaningful difference in the workplace?
This important question brought participants together for Faith @ Work, a CBC Leadership Training seminar held on 11 July 2026 at CBC SEA Park SS2.
Drawing from Scripture and decades of professional experience, the speakers explored how believers can honour God through their work. Their message was organised around seven practical themes: Perspective, Pressure, Pursuing Excellence, People Building, Principles, Providence and Purpose.

The Seven Ps
Seven themes helped participants connect biblical faith with the realities of professional life.
Perspective
Using the story of the twelve spies in Numbers 13, David Wong contrasted a perspective shaped by fear with one shaped by faith. Fear caused the Israelites to see themselves as grasshoppers surrounded by giants. Faith enabled Joshua and Caleb to view the same situation through the greatness of God.
Pressure
Dr Jimmy Mok spoke honestly about heavy workloads, office politics, difficult supervisors and unexpected career challenges. Faith does not guarantee a trouble-free career. God can use pressure to produce endurance, character and hope, as described in Romans 5:3–5.
Pursuing Excellence
Workplace excellence is more than completing tasks or achieving performance targets. Inspired by Daniel, true excellence combines competence, reliability, integrity and consistency. The quality of our work should make our faith visible.
People Building
Leaders are called to build people rather than merely use them to accomplish organisational goals. Leadership should involve service, mentorship, wise correction and empowerment. When leaders invest in people, their growth can strengthen the whole organisation.
Principles and Choices
Faith becomes visible through everyday decisions. David shared examples of choosing integrity over financial convenience, admitting mistakes and resisting pressure to offer improper favours. Christians must consider not only whether a decision is legal or profitable, but whether it honours God.
Providence
Professional planning and hard work remain important, but believers must not depend upon human strategy alone. God can provide a timely idea, opportunity, relationship or open door that no strategy could produce.
Purpose
Work is not merely a way to earn a living. It is also a place where God shapes our character, guides our decisions and positions us to influence others. Work is temporary, but its impact can be eternal.
God can open doors that strategy alone cannot.
During the Asian financial crisis, David Wong’s company was struggling despite every strategy he attempted. One timely business idea led to an extraordinary breakthrough and remarkable growth.
David shared the story of John, a warehouse manager whom he chose to mentor rather than dismiss when the growing demands of the business became difficult for him to manage.
That decision created an opportunity for conversation, discipleship and eventually John’s salvation. John later shared what he had learned with others, extending the influence beyond one individual.
Sharing the gospel at work does not always begin with formal preaching. It may begin with a wise decision, a caring relationship or a conversation seasoned with salt, as taught in Colossians 4:4–6.
